How to disable physics in assetEditor?

When I am working in a skeletal mesh editor, or a poseAsset editor and either hit “ctrl-z” to undo something, or apply a different preivew mesh to the asset, the skeletal mesh falls to the ground as if it were a brick (regardless of physicsAsset added ot the asset or not) and there’s no way to stop that simulation. Lately, I’ve noticed it on a poseAsset even off of a fresh boot, when I open the poseAssset the character falls to the ground (no that was not one of its poses).
Is there any way to disable this from happening? I’m not seeing anything in the editor preferences or even project settings that affect this behavior.
