Sometimes when selecting actors with the left mouse button the actors are moved. How can this be disabled?
Hello @unit23 ,
If I didn’t misunderstand, here are two possible solutions to prevent actors from being moved accidentally:
the first one is Use Selection Mode
Switch to Selection Mode from the arrow icon in the top-left corner of the viewport or by pressing Q.
In this mode, left-click only selects the actor and does not move it, even if you drag the mouse.
and the second one is Lock the actor movement
Select the actor and right-click → Lock Actor Movement.
The actor will remain selectable, but it will not be possible to move, rotate, or scale it.
Hope it helps!
Thank you for pointing this out, but I would prefer a setting to disable movement involving mouse clicks entirely. Every so often when selecting several meshes the left mouse click is moving them. An AI search mentioned a drag move editor interface setting, but couldn’t find.
How to disable the mouse click dragging? (without using the locking feature)
Hi again @unit23 . I’ve been looking into this to see if there was any option or setting that would allow this, but I couldn’t find anything in Editor Interface Settings
I also tried creating an Editor Utility Widget to disable mouse click dragging, but I wasn’t able to get it working from there
The only thing that might work would be creating a plugin/ C++ solution to disable mouse click dragging, but honestly, at that point I wouldn’t really know how to help further
If I find anything else, I’ll post it here.
Thank you for your help to find a solution Rocco! I’ve had this slightly confusing problem with shifted meshes for a long time, I think I just have to be more careful when editing ![]()
