How to customize the snapping properties of imported objects?

Hi,

I’m creating modular building pieces (walls, roof, floor etc…) in order to combine it as prefabs.

My problem is I can’t figure out how to customize the objects’ snapping.

When I place one of the Fortnite library object on the scene, say like a Art Deco wall or whatever, it automatically snaps to the world grid (256) even if the grid snapping option is set to another value. And most importantly, it snaps vertically perfectly, according to its height (384cm on the z-axis).

How to set this custom snapping feature to my own models?

Thanks

Oh I think I found the answer to my question…

The documentation refers to graybox set in the Architectural Modeling section of the guidelines

At first sight, I didn’t figure out how to use it but I think I got it now.
We can add a StaticMesh component to the Graybox instance, assign our own mesh to it, then set the default graybox StaticMesh invisible.
And it seems to do the trick.

Before set this thread as resolved in a few days,
it would be cool if someone could confirm the relevance of this workflow and/or notice some pitfalls :slightly_smiling_face:.

Thanks

Nope, this is the good workflow:
