How to create a landscape from LIDAR or DEM and orthophoto data

Hi Folks,

I have large high res 3D landscape models created from photogrammetry for orienteering. I am trying to create an orienteering game but am struggling getting the first person character moving around the landscape.

I can convert my model into point clouds (laz), textured models (glb) or raster DSM + orthophotos. My area is about 2km x 1km at 5cm resolution. But I can (and have tried) decimating input files.

I have tried the LiDAR import tool on the laz cloud as per the official guide, however after activating collisions the character seems stuck a lot even on what appears to be pretty flat parts of the point cloud and you need to jump in order to be able to move around.

I have tried importing the glb and using “use complex as simple” which seems to work in principle (when I view the collisions mesh) but in practice even for small subsets of my data the game hangs as soon as the player comes in contact with the collision mesh.

So my question is, given the diversity of input files I can generate, what is the simplest way to get this working?

Many thanks!
