My team is participating in the Epic MegaJam 2022 and we are making a game that’s similar to games like Coffee Talk, Va-11 Hall-a, or Doodle God where you combine ingredients to create drinks. However, since our programmer is new, they’re relying primarily on online guides to develop the systems, and since this is a fairly unconventional way of using the UE engine, there aren’t many resources on it and they’re quite stuck. I was wondering if anyone had some insight into creating these kinds of systems, we’ve looked at skill-tree and crafting systems but none of them really hit all the things we need. Thank you in advance for your help!
Howdy Ailith, welcome to the Unreal community.
I took a glance and a quick playthrough of Doodle God and it sounds like your team would benefit from learning about widgets/buttons and structs/enums. I was unable to find an exact tutorial to fit your needs but those are some of the knowledge points I would look into without giving a full on tutorial myself.
I did a bit of searching and found that part of your functionality would sound like a crafting system. I found a tutorial series your team member can watch if they would like.
