how to attach custom clothes to Metahuman? (Nothing is working)

Hi,

So I’ve designed some custom clothes for a metahuman. Everything’s good on that end, but I’ve tried everything I can find on actually getting those clothes onto the metahuman blueprint, and it seems to work for everybody but me. :joy:

I tried importing a pair of pants and it does link to the metahuman skeleton and move when the metahuman moves, but the actual mesh becomes garbage. It looks fine on import, but as soon as I link the pant’s skeletal mesh to the metahuman’s leg blueprint, the pants look so wrong…

I tried assigning the skinweights and armature in cc4’s Accurig, and that looks like this on the Metahuman:

It’s supposed to look like this:

Next, I tried applying the skin weights and armature in blender. Mainly, I tried following this tutorial. Clothing for Metahumans I Import 3D clothing using blender and weight painting for UE4 | Learn w/ me - YouTube

It ended up looking like this…

If any genius has a word of advice, I’d be grateful. I feel like I’ve tried everything, but there must be something else.

I’ve had the same exact issue with a cape/shawl. It imports looking fine, having been parented to the Mh skeleton, but as soon as I connect it as a skeletal mesh component to the blueprint, it looks like garbage.
