How to attach "Additional Meshes" to specific bones in Animation Preview?

I have a question regarding the use of “Additional Meshes” in the Animation Montage and Sequence preview.

I’m trying to find a way to attach a specific preview mesh to a character’s bone and save that setting for specific animations only.

My Goal:

  • Show a ‘sword’ mesh preview during the ‘sword attack’ montage.

  • Show a ‘shield’ mesh preview during the ‘shield attack’ montage.

The Problem:
Currently, if I attach a preview mesh to a bone in the Skeleton/Skeletal Mesh editor, that mesh remains visible across all animations.

To solve this, I tried creating a Preview Mesh Collection (PMC). However, even though I selected the skeletal mesh and specified the target bone within the PMC asset, the additional meshes always spawn at the root bone (location 0,0,0) instead of the designated bone.

My Question:
Is there a correct way to attach an additional mesh to a specific bone in the preview so that it only appears for a specific animation asset? Any advice on how to get the PMC to correctly follow the bone would be greatly appreciated.
