How to Assign a Skeleton Without the Missing Bones?

The meshes’ original skeleton has a few extra bones I don’t need right now (jaw, eyes, etc.). The mesh I want to assign is the ALS mesh, basically the UE4 mannequin with IK.

When I try to assign the ALS skeleton to the mesh, the bone list table shows some missing bones on the target (ALS) skeleton. That’s fine, I don’t need them. I would like to continue, but previously I think these bones were added to the ALS mesh. I’ve seen other questions that indicate that these bones will be ignored.

Are there specific steps to follow to complete this assignment?

TIA.

I finally found the Skeletal Editor Plugin. It (mostly) worked like a charm. I was able to successfully delete the unneeded bones and assign the desired skeleton.

There was one model (Viking Vi), that caused it to crash. But that model is not yet on Fab.

The Plugin has a lot of features, but could use a few more. I’ll save that for another post.

This video helped. Thanks @Ed_Bennett!
