How to align control rig controls in sequencer to other things?

In Maya and other DCC tools, there are ways to easily align objects to each other.

I’m trying to align one of my control rig controls to a specific object in the scene in sequencer. Is there a good tool for that?

For example I have a control that’s a child of my hand and I want it to align to the gun my character is holding so the bone lines up with the gun.

I then set up a parent constraint to the gun so as I move the gun the hand follows as I make a weapon animation. It all works great. I just want to align one of the controls to the gun so it’s perfectly straight and that’ll be the socket where the gun will attach to in game. That bone is a child of the hand itself, and my hand is rotated in totally arbitrary ways to make it look like it’s gripping the gun. It’s in a totally random rotation not aligned to world space.

I normally have no problem doing things like that in Maya.

I used to be able to use the snapper tool in earlier unreal versions which was a decent workaround, but now when I snap controls to other things in the scene, it’s in a weird coordinate space.

I managed a workaround for now.

I place a random object in the scene and set its transform so its oriented exactly how I’d want the control to orient. I then create a parent constraint with no offsets being maintained. This forces the control to snap exactly where I want. I then delete the constraint.

A tool that gives me those results without going through that process would be great.
