How to add point cloud in the new version

I tried to drag and drop from a few different scan formats, .las, .pts… Says unknown extension. But point should now be supported without the plug-in, which is only for the previous version. Am I missing something

Ever found the answer? I can’t get it to work either. The documentation is wrong.
