How to activate "Skeletal Mesh Editing Tools"?

I’ve read there is an Epic experimental tool to “edit skeletons”, that is called " “Skeletal Mesh Editing Tools”. Unfortunately, it doesn’t show up in the plugin list in 5.3. Idk how to “enable” it, if it’s not there … In the “pre-built” UE 5.3, if I go under Edit/Plugins/All and search for “skel”, all I see is “Animation Budget Allocator” and “Skeletal Mesh Simnplifier”. Was “Skeletal Mesh Editing Tools” removed again? I also looked directly under “Animation”, without using the search, but it’s not there either.

Hey there @skunkiferous! Welcome back to the community! Looks like the source build seems to still contain the plugin itself, I remember there were previously platform restrictions, what OS are you using? I am installing a fresh 5.3 instance now to verify it’s not there on my side since the one I maintain is a custom source build.

Plugin Location in source:

For those looking on how to use it if you can find it:

I’m using the Windows (10, x64) version. The only “special” thing about my setup AFAIK (beyond having some Marketplace plugins installed), is I start from a desktop shortcut instead of from the launcher, bc I can’t start any version directly over the launcher anymore. I get some weird error about some prerequisite being missing, although they are there. I could not solve that issue, but starting from the desktop is no big deal anyway.

@SupportiveEntity OK. I found my problem! I was in an “old project”, that is not yet updated to 5.X. So I’m actually in 4.27, and that’s why the tool is not there. Sorry to have wasted your time. :man_facepalming:
