I would pick the i9-9900k, however I found a pretty good deal for a PC with i7-9700k, 32GB RAM and RTX 2080S.
I was wondering if I should just go with this PC with the 9700k? How much better is the 9900k over the 9700k for UE4? According to this comparison site, it looks like the difference is marginal (around 10% let’s say?).
The multi-thread difference is more like 15% but the single-thread performance is equal. Intel has lost its lead to AMD though when it comes to price-performance and therefore I would not pick either of those but instead a Ryzen 5 3600 which is nearly as fast as i9-9900k but cost around half the price of the i7-9700k so it becomes an easy choice.
I have a 9900K and it’s wonderful! But… to be 100% truthful, I don’t notice a very huge difference over my 4770K. So I’d guess the difference between the 9900K and the 9700K is barely noticeable.
The upcoming Intel 10th Gen HEDT CPUs is going to be quite cheap and with Quad-Channel RAM support along with a better overall chipset on the motherboard can offer way higher performance than desktop CPUs:
Yeah absolutely, I do notice a difference between the 9900K and the 4770K - the difference is noticable and the I9 is faster. But it’s not a huge huge difference. Like a couple of seconds faster in most tasks.
