How is Unreal doing when it comes to interactive music, transitions etc?

I’ve seen Dan R’s great video and explanation of how this can be done, but it seems like a significant workaround compared to wwise. Is there now a neater way of putting together an interactive soundtrack with proper transitions, pre and post-loop fades, time-accurate looping, assigning transitions and state changes to be on the next beat, bar etc? Or is wwise still way ahead at this particular type of thing?
