How do you reset animation blueprint variables after each animation?

I tried setting up the animation tab and making anim notifies and then on those anim notify events at the end of each animation, in the animation blueprint, putting “Set…” back to its default value. It’s just not working. i don’t think it’s being called. i don’t know how to do it now…

The problem is that I’ve got a character, and he can run, he can do several chained attacks, but once i move around a bit and throw one attack he just keeps on using the “Press Z”-requiring animations in the Statemachine whenever he gets the chance (which is right after the chain ends, he goes into idle, and repeats.
