How do you remove sea level effects?

I didnt think about sea level affecting a map starting from the blank template since it has no ocean, but now i am running into visual problems. I cant seem to figure out how to remove the sea level effects from a map that doesnt have an ocean. Everything below this point is shaded and/or shows the water ripple effect when epic graphics are on. I even tried adding an unneeded ocean and lowering the height but that didnt solve the problem. Is there a setting somewhere i am missing, or will i have to manually drag up every asset in the map to above sea level.

Hello Reynos,

I tried reproducing this, but was unable to.

  1. Created a new ‘Blank’ level
  2. Placed a modular fortnite ‘Wall’ asset. (Does it need to be a specific mesh?)
  3. Moved it down / scaled it to be really tall to try and find the “ocean threshold”

Let me know if there are any other steps to set this up.

I appreciate the response, here are the initial steps i did when i first started the map.

I started with a blank map, added the prefab colloseum and filled it with assorted props for a gun game, then deleted the initial flat grid from the blank template to make the arena appear to be floating, and added a custom skybox. It doesnt seem to be any specefic mesh as it happens to walls, trees, bushes, everything at that level. it wont show in the editor, only in game on medium or higher settings.

The shadow effect appears to start at roughly Z: 375, and any flat suface between Z:375-400 Gives the water ripple effect when walking on it.

Thanks for the extra info,

I’ve never seen anything like that before, so I’m curious about how to replicate it. (I doubt the custom skybox is related)

  1. Create a new ‘Blank’ level
  2. Add prefab ‘Colossal Coliseum’ ontop of grid (this would place prefab at grid plane height)
  3. Delete the 4 ‘grid planes’
  4. Launch session (this only appears in-game on medium or higher settings)

Still no luck:

If you search your outliner for ‘water’ or ‘lake’ do you see anything?

Nope, no water or unknown effects of any kind in outliner. Never seen it before either was hoping i just messed up a setting somewhere, looks like ill be manually moving everything lol.

Hm, well let me know if you can figure out the steps to reproduce.

For selecting everything in the level - with focus in the outliner you can press CTRL + A to select everything. (And then hold CTRL and click to deselect things you don’t want to move)

Good luck!
