How do you make mechanics unlockable? (Like in Metroid Prime)

I’ve been learning Blueprint on my own and doing pretty well. But for the life of me I can’t figure this out.

Example: You don’t start with the Missile but I make an Actor Blueprint for the Player to touch, Get a notification of getting it then click okay to Unlock it. And now you should be able to actually shoot missiles. I told the Blueprint to tell the Main Character Blueprint that the “HaveMissiles?” is set to True. But for some reason it won’t or even ‘know’ when it’s on nether.
