Well the big thing as an Indie is to drop the big studio attitude.

It does not work where talking about your game at every opportunity does.
Toss <cough cough> NDA requirement out the window and let anyone on your team talk about what they are doing or working on. Create a small community and let them make suggestions and if they are good implement them and give them credit. Let them in on Alpha testing, we have a QA group where anyone can join by just asking.
If no one knows about your game until release day then your already lagging behind.
As for Mister Fish???
He is either the biggest cry baby or absolutely brilliant at self promotion. Every time he has a hissy fit his game is back in the news and even Total Biscuit gave him a half an hour.
