How do I use the eye-dropper tool without selecting the object I clicked

Whenever I’m trying to pick a color off another widget item, it always selects the item that I clicked, am I using the eye-dropper wrong?

Hey @SpectreKelevra!

It depends on WHICH Eye-dropper button you are using, and where. Most eye-droppers in UE are indeed object selectors for a drop-down selection giving another option to link two objects. Can you show with pictures which one you are using for colors?

I’m using this one in the widget blueprint.

If I want to pick a green off this button instead of orange, it’ll set it to green alright, but it’ll also select that button, making me have to click back on what I was editing.

AH okay. Yeah you were using the right one for this- I think when these particular windows were put together they weren’t thinking about selection in the UMG Window.

Unfortunately I’m pretty sure there isn’t anything to be done about that. You just have to go back to what you were working on.

There are eyedroppers elsewhere used to specifically select AN OBJECT by default so that’s why I was concerned that you were using a different one.

I suppose then the best way is to lock the other widgets im working on and use the color picker that way.
