I see a lot of tutorials for getting a Metahuman to work with the new UE5 Third Person template, but I can’t find anythinng about simply moving a UE4 based character into the new templte. Can anyone help me out here?
UE5 TP Template has the UE4 mannequin inside the “characters” folder.
If you are trying to use a character that’s made for UE4 just delete the skeleton for your imported character and replace it with the “SK_Mannequin_Skeleton” that’s in the UE4 folder.
hmmm Doesn’t appear to be that simple. When I go to select the Manny ABP on the mesh component in the Third Person BP it gets stuck in a T Pose. And when I try to assign the Manny Skeleton to my UE4 Skeleton Mesh, it fails to merge bones.
Nevermind I figured it out. I also had to retarget the Animation Blueprint
Hi @Subject7fx , I’m trying to accomplish the same. My UE4 character is all setup with all it’s components and I’m trying to use Metahumans, but I want to upgrade my UE4 character to UE5 mannequin to make the transition smoother. Is retargeting the animation blueprints to the new UE4 Mannequin skeleton from your pre-existing character all you needed to do? Just the ABP? or all the animations and montages as well? Thanks.
I get a host of errors within the ABP_Mannequin_Base and ABP_ItemAnimLayerBase
