How do I stop the launcher from auto updating?

I don’t have a speedy internet, so the launcher auto updating frequently at 60+MB is something I get around by stopping my WiFi first. But when I forget to switch off WiFi, I end up getting caught up with doing the install, as once it starts, the previous launcher stops functioning. Is there a setting to update only when I click “yes, I’d like to update”?

The older launcher had an option to change install path that the new ones do not have (or I miss something?), now launcher does not see my engine versions in “C:/program files/Unreal Engine”, says I need to install. So I am starting the editor by clicking the UE4Editor.exe. Also, it does not see my downloaded content on the other HD.

There are tons of config files, which is the one to edit to set the path(s) again?

Thanks

Hi Ourk1d,

Currently there is not a way to prevent the launcher from auto-updating. If you’re looking for the engine it is probably in the Project Files/Epic Games folder after the the launcher went from Unreal Engine to Epic Games launcher. Unfortunately, opening the editor manually will still open portal which will then try to auto-update.

We’ve gotten some feedback on this and hopefully this is something we can change in the future but there are currently no workarounds for the short term.

Also you’re still able choose the install path though you the path file shows grayed out in the install setup so users can’t change the Epic Games folder name. Changing that folder name can cause a bunch of issues.

I think disconnecting from the internet is the only way.
