How do I rig world assets?

I’m rigging the pipe and greebles to move when you walk on them (bounce/shake) But I’m not exactly sure how this should look. Do I add bones to the panels that move and parent them to the main part of the platform? Does everything need to be in one chain rigged to a single object? Are there other options to achieve this rather than using bones and skinning? I ask this because there’s not a lot of details on how a non-conventional rig should look in unreal and documentation doesn’t really tell me much.
