I have a backup of an old project from an external hard drive. It has the entire contents of the folder including the uproject file.
The project doesn’t show up in the library in the Unreal launcher.
If launch the editor and try to open the uproject file it says “Unable to read project status”
If I find the uproject file and change the project version, or try to launch the game, by right clicking on it it says “Couldn’t set association for project. Check the file is writeable” - the file is not set to read only.
Is it possible to restore old projects from backup? how?
Very weird, because when you zip a project and mail it to someone, that’s all it is, just the folder with everything in. Are all the subfolders there? ( content, config etc )
Just checking, you’re not trying to open a newer project with an older engine?
It seems to have all the relevant folders when I check it against other projects. And it’s definitely not a newer engine project as it’s several years old - and I can’t change the engine version - as I mentioned.
