How do I move Unreal Engine's Folder to another drive?

That would be troubling. Appreciate the heads-up.

I came into an issue with Denied Access while trying to use this command using this way of opening cmd.exe

the solve that worked for me was opening cmd as administrator (run as admin…) ~ and then used the same line:

mklink /J “C:\Program Files\Epic Games\UE_5.3” “D:\D_program-files\UE_5.3”

This worked for me. The file verification takes a while, but it seems to be an ‘official’ way.

  • move/copy the engine directory to the target directory and rename it so it differs from the desired directory name
  • Start the launcher, a new engine install should be possible now,
  • it should ask for the desired target directory in the install process, before it starts to download
  • as soon as it starts downloading, pause the installation (you can keep the launcher open)
  • move your engine files into the desired install directory, agree to override any duplicates
  • resume installation, the launcher should now read the files in and verify them
