How do I make Mario in Unreal?

I’m trying to recreate Super Mario Galaxy in UE4… Anyone know how to get Mario’s Model In?

hi,

I have moved this to “content creation” for you as its not related to the UE4 marketplace.

Note that you can’t actually do anything with Mario, since it’s under copyright by Nintendo you would have to get permission, which they won’t give you.

They shutdown that Mario64 project in Unity remember?

Step 1: Make Mario
Step 2: Get Sued.

Might be able to avoid that by making everything from scratch and not make money off the game.

No, they still own the design even if you make the content yourself. And not selling the game isn’t a defense either. A free game can still change the perception of the series that can affect their sales of the official games.

And they just released a build your mario world (or whatever it is called) so no, they will not give away xD…

if you will build a 2d sidescroller, best think of your own character and mechanics, or take one from blenderswap or something :P… still you can make it… but well xD (dont spect any aprobal from the creators)…

Wasnt there a button in UE4 “make mario”?

I don’t think it’s illegal if you’re just teaching your self and. As long as you’re not making any money off of it then it should be cool.
For retrieving models you can 3D ripper DX. Seeing as it’s a Wii game you will probably need an emulator to run the game and then extract the model. I’m not sure if 3D ripper DX has that capability with emulators.

If you want to try and make the same physics like gravity in the middle of a sphere there is a wealth of info on this.
Google this: “ue4 mario galaxy gravity” - So so so so much information on this though you might need to piece together info from other sources to implement this in to your own project.

Also in regards to 3D ripper DX. I’m not sure if it’s legal to rip models from games, Even if you’re not making money from it. So you should probably check. I mean if your only learning or playing around then I don’t think it should matter. But it’s probably best to check.

well… for education I guess even you can make money out of it xD

But anyway, it will be best if you try from scratch develop something of your own xD… (it blocks you and give you possibilities to create something new).

It’s not legal at all, but if you want to do some stuff on your own without sharing what you’re doing, then no one will know about it to say anything. It’s kind of a waste of effort to spend a bunch of time on something you can’t share though so a better idea would be to come up with something original, it can even be a similar game if you make original content and gameplay.

I thought it was completely legal to modify any games/software you have purchased, including ripping and reverse engineering. It’s not legal to distribute that content or make money from it in any way.

Source or doesnt exist.

This guy does nothing but sharing Nintendo stuff as playable demos.
By now Nintendo must’ve noticed.

I guess
They either can’t do anything about it or they just don’t care…

Distribution is definitely illegal, especially if the assets are ripped from games. Also having a donation link with it is asking for legal trouble.

Some places either aren’t aware of things or don’t care, but they’ve stopped people for less–note all of the stuff they’re blocking from Youtube of people just playing their games.

That is a legal as going into a strangers house and taking stuff.
Free or not, You do not have any rights(unless you explicitly got them from the IP holder) to do anything to the files.

HTH

It seems like you can modify software legally, but it seems to be very limited for what purposes you can modify it.
