Specifically, sort of, i need to know how the whole process needs to go, from wanting to start to actually being able/having the right License to be legally allowed to use UE5 to start tinkering & learning.
I Also need to know what kind of Cyber-security i need to have Installed to safeguard Epic Games’ IP UE5 from cyberthreats, as a general precaution, (as i’m unclear how much/little Liability i would have if i got hacked & their Engine Code got stolen…)
Hey @AlexanderCovinus! Welcome to the forums!
Just download the launcher and when you go to install, read the EULA. Any answers you may need will be held within, and you’re going to be fine! Anyone can download the Engine, there’s no reason someone would have to steal it from you.
well, my main concern with that was specifically about the possible Legal ramifications, seeing as it’s Epic Games’ IP, Sensitive Source Code, & Assets.
As for the EULA … i’m not too well versed in Legal Terminology, so i only vaguely understand SOME of the verbiage, not all of it;
& i’d rather understand most/preferably ALL of it looong before i get too deep in doing anything with their Engine…
(been wanting to be a Dev/Designer since i was 12, but never knew just HOW much Legal stuff there is behind the scenes to the whole deal till like, literally today)
Crap, another thing i only JUST realized i forgot to ask was, do i need to have already setup/signed-up for the Standard License of Unreal Engine to download/use Unreal Engine 5? … i know my newb questions are tedious but … want to get proper clarification before i actually start trying to install the Engine, if at all possible …
Just install it, you really only need to worry about the legal stuff once you plan to sell/market the things your building on it. As far as learning and getting better with it just learn watch tutorials, I personally use Udemy when I started to get a understanding of everything and it’s good hands on learning. Like I said you can download the standard version and be fine, just be careful and read up on the usage agreements once you start to publish your work/projects/models/etc.
i figured i’d hit up Khan Academy if there’s any high-lvl Math stuff i needa know for pragramming/developing (my crappy schools here in my part of Florida taught/still teach jack ****) & well … dunno bout the rest, dunno what Udemy is either, sounds familiar but i can’t place it …
i liked it better then khan honestly, but just google it and itll pop up its a popular course site for all kinds of topics. every month they have a sale and courses that are like 100$+ go for like 15-19$ so thats what i do. The cool thing about UE is you can learn by using C++ or using their blueprint system which you dont have to use actual coding with, but its better to learn both ways C++ and blueprint and combine them in development. Just have fun with it and dont put to much faith in you being able to jump in and make a AAA game on your first try lol. start small and work your way up and dont get discouraged!!!
