I purchased an asset on the Fab store today. It said it was “drivable cars” and that it had FBX files, in the description.
However, the actual delivery is a 1.4 GB OBJ file, and a zipped blender file.
After an hour trying to import it into the engine, I gave up and cancelled. Also, this will obviously not be “drivable” when imported.
I went to the Transactions page, but couldn’t find a way to request a refund, like there used to be on the Marketplace for obviously mis-described assets.
The current method is to go the page: support.fab.com/s/?ProductOrigin=FabSupport
and select the Refund category, Make sure to include all important detail about the your account detail that you used to login, transaction, product url etc..
Note: You can only contact fab via that support page.
And to spot potential bad sellers, if the description sound like ai generated text, better not take the risk of buying it (especially when the seller set the generated with ai to No)
For a pack of assets, i would expect a demo downloadable file and some blueprint file if they were drivable.
And if a seller did that much effort to make so much cars by his own, there no reason he wouldnt include unreal engine / unity.
Thanks for the answer.
I’ve also “Reported” the asset.
Somehow I had expected that the review team would be a little bit aware of how to screen out this kind of content, but I guess not
If they’re going to take an “anything goes” attitude, presumably they should make it easier to also undo the kind of damage that happens this way.
