How do I extend the tangent in the Curves Editor?

In the Curves Editor in the Level Sequencer, I am trying to manipulate the curve by extending the tangent’s length the flatten the curve. I am constrained to only bringing the tangent up/down and NOT horizontally. Is there something I need to enable or disable to achieve this?

Wondered this too. You have to right-click the tangent, choose Weighted tangent and voila. Then, shift-drag your tangent to restrain it to 45° angles if you wish.
