How do I export an Ik Spline Animation into unreal 4 from Blender?

Hi all, I have been struggling with getting a short tendril animation to import into Unreal 4. The rig is a basic Ik spline rig using a few controllers to control a bezier curve that controls the primary bone chain. When I attempt to export the animation as an fbx from Blender, i get really odd distortions in the mesh. I am very new to unreal, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
