How do i delete a direct link from an Twinmotion scene?

Because Archicad 25 works with the Datasmith link to Twinmotion, I would like to keep my old scene but delete the old direct link (through archicad 24). How do I delete the link to the old model? Linking with Datasmith now gives me two models in one scene.

Hello ,

Thank you for posting in the community about deleting elements originating from the Legacy Direct-Link. This is unfortunetly something that is locked in Twinmotion when working with the plugin.

However you can try and remove that element from the design application and resynchronize the content into Twinmotion. Otherwise you can start a new Twinmotion file and merge the contents from your original file then the locked assets will be removable.

Here are some options you can take when working with older scenes and transitioning from the legacy plugin to the Datasmith Exporter Plugin.

Option 1:

  • Open your existing Twinmotion scene and save all the materials that were adjusted or applied in Twinmotion to your user library.
  • Then open a new Twinmotion file and merge the content from the old file.
  • Delete the elements that were brought in with the old plugin and import and rotate the remaining elements 90 degrees.
  • Import the new content with the Direct-Link or udatasmith.
  • Apply the textures to the necessary materials that reverted back.
  • Recreate your media images.

Option 2:

  • Create a backup of your original Twinmotion file.
  • Open your existing Twinmotion scene and save all the materials that were adjusted or applied in Twinmotion to your user library.
  • Then open your Archicad 24 file and open a 3D view and hide everything - Then Sync with the legacy plugin so that the Twinmotion file becomes empty except for the newly placed assets.
  • Import the new content with the Direct-Link or udatasmith and rotate it 90 degrees.
  • Apply the textures to the necessary materials that reverted back.

Hope this helps and let us know if you have any follow-up questions.

Kind regards,

Vincent B.

Hi Vincent,

I really appreciate your feedback about this problem. I also have the same issue with Mr. Gijs Adriaansens, I deleted my Legacy Direct-Link and Its really unfortunate that I have spend a lot of months of editing on my 3d model and I can't relink the original model and its creating two model now. Can you provide a video link to easy to follow your solution that mention above (OPTION 1&2) ? Thank you so much in advance .

God bless you!
