How do I connect these two edges?

I’m trying to figure out why these two edges won’t bridge. In my course video, the instructor cuts the shape with edge loops, deletes the two faces, then reconnects the edges with the bridge function, mine will just not do it. Does anyone have any insight on what to do?

Are you sure that the face on the backside is deleted?

It is deleted, I selected both faces when deleting. Is there another way to check if it’s removed other than it being physically visible?
