How do I actually learn Unreal Engine 5 Game development?

I’ve been using Unreal Engine for filmmaking for a little bit now, so I am not completely unfamiliar with the engine, but I’ve now decided that I wanna get into game development and well.. I basically know nothing.

I’ve seen some youtube videos regarding it, looked through the “Learn” page, documentation but I am just a bit overwhelmed to be honest…

Where should I start/what should be the first thing I learn and once I’ve done that, what should I do after that, and after that?

Also what ressources/courses or whatever should I use to learn unreal engine?

Since you already know Unreal from filmmaking, start with a small Blueprint-only game to learn gameplay basics (movement, input, interaction). Use Unreal’s “Your First Game” and Blueprint Essentials courses. Build tiny projects instead of watching too many tutorials—things feel much clearer once you start making.

Hey there @xXThrougerXx! Welcome back to the community! Since you have used the engine itself for filmmaking, you have a bit better of a handle than users that have never used it. My recommendation would be to still go through one of the entry learning paths to get to grips with basic game logic and blueprints. This learning path can get you some basic skills in the development portions and working in engine, though for the art side you will likely need more supplemental resources once you’re done.
