Hi Guys
First time posting here so apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.
I want to create a highly detailed environment with fields, hedges, forests, woodland and tracks and much more. The result will be approximately 10km sq. It’s for a film.
The simplest way (in my mind) would be to map all the different layers out in Photoshop so I have a set of matched black and white masks stacked on top of each other, one for hedges, one for one kind of field and one for another, maybe 10 to 15 different overlapping p[perfectly matched layers. I would then be able to apply my foliage projected “through” these masks. This would be an enormous undertaking if I have to hand-paint the entire environment.
I have searched here and across the vast expanse of the internet and so far this seems an alien concept within Unreal. It seems obvious to me … Just place the object (or allow it to be placed) where the value of the underlying texture is greater than zero.
Is there a way to do this that is not hand painting?
Thanks in advance
