I am calling an animmontage, however I want it to play indefinitely until i call the stop animmontage. How can I achieve this? I have tried setting it to looping but it doesn’t seem to be working.

When you create the anim montage over at the bottom right of the screen there is a tab - ‘montage sections’. This will list all the sections you have created or will just show ‘Default’ if that is what you have left it at.
Click on the white box to the right of your section name and in the dropdown select the same section name. Now it will loop.
You might want to watch and see what happens in this tab when you add additional animations and/or sections to your montage.
