How can i get Players into my new Maps?

Hi,

Two months ago, i started publishing my first maps into Fortnite with my partner, when we published them in the Creator Portal we were getting our first players into the maps because Fortnite was automatically publishing them in the Discovery section, in lists like “NEW VARIETY” or “NEW COMBAT”.

That was awesome for me and my partner because we understood that all of our maps would get players because it was working similar as Youtube algorithm, all the maps were shown to users and if the map was good enough, it would get more players and maybe it would stay on a list like for example “TRENDING”

But now, since like 2 weeks, we launched like 5 maps, and all of them did not receive a single player, our maps never appeared in the Discover Section.

So now we are not getting any new players and we dont know what to do. We contacted Epic Support and they told us to complete the Epic’s Pick’s Form, we did it and we received them all denied because of " Other maps were selected instead."

So now we are very frustrated, because our work doesnt have any opportunites in the market, not even one player saw our work, now all is uncertainty, we dont know if its worth to spend lot of time doing maps because they might never be shown to public.

Please help us understand why before we got players without completing any form and now, it doesnt matter if we complete the form because if they deny our map, all of our work is sent to the garbage.

We love creating maps in Fortnite, we want to keep doing it but we need to understand how the system works to be able to work properly in it. Thanks.

@Furypeek Thank you for your feedback. While I cannot guarantee a response, I can confirm that this has been forwarded to the appropriate team.

You’re competing against everyone else, and its the algorithm who decides. Also, I don’t believe your Discover page is not the one everybody has. If you have some players on your Analytics creator portal’s page then you showed up in somebody’s page.

Your map just wasn’t good enough, also if you can do 5 maps in 2 weeks, I don’t believe your maps are gonna be really better from the other ones :person_shrugging:

Thank you very much

Im saying that the maps didnt got even 1 player in Analytics creator portal page. That’s why my concern. About the quality of my maps… please be respectfull, im not working alone, we did that amount of maps because i work with more people.

Sorry you’re right, was expecting you to work alone, also I didn’t read you well apparently, still I find it a lot 5 maps in 2 weeks. I work every day and I can’t do one per month

Not having a single player is actually really strange then, hope you get this resolved.

Also, I’m just trying something here but you’re sure you don’t have all your island settings Teams set to Custom and Team Size to Dynamic ? (these seem to disable matchmaking)

Yeah, we cant believe not even one player so our work.

About the Island Settings, we didnt put those settings in any of the maps, they are all in settings like Free For All and Dynamic or 2 Teams with split evenly.

Hi @Stevie-Moon please get us some help. We don’t know what to do about the fact that our maps don’t even receive one player. Our team name in UEFN is “Epic Play” and our creator code is “play-epicplay”

Hello, to get more detailed information on your map, you can use the fortnite.gg service.
The attached screen shows that the “Run from the Beast” map has been in several categories since its publication.
You can also see there how many players played on the map at what time. Perhaps @im_a_lama is right, and you should share your attention to the variety of gameplay, intro, description, etc. in order to attract and retain more players on your maps.
I in no way want to offend you or question your professionalism, and I am writing this solely so that you can look at the process of creating and promoting maps from a different angle.
I’ve encountered similar problems myself, and I understand that we need to create something truly outstanding and unique for players to appreciate the map, or for the map to be chosen in the Epic’s Pick section. Another way is to promote your maps through other resources, for example, YouTube, Twitter, etc.

Hi @sovestfn

First, thanks a lot for your answer, is great help for us to know that we can use fortnite.gg for geting more information about our maps.

About the map “Run From The Beast” we are not having any trouble with that map, when we published it, that map had players and everything was fine. The problem is the new maps that we launched, they didn’t even receive one player. That’s our concern.

About the quality of the maps, im sure @im_a_lama is right, we have to make outstanding experiences if we want to have Players in our Maps. But we are just starting in our journey in map creation and its very sad for us to see new maps with literally 0 players.

You can look at the example of the ffa vikings map - it was in several categories, but only one person visited it.
Also, it seems to me that maps may not appear in searches in any category if they are very similar to each other. I didn’t go to the maps, but judging by the preview, you have similar game mechanics on some maps, you only change the name and surroundings. If I’m wrong, I apologize.

The most important thing is don’t give up and don’t stop doing what you like! This is a very big step that you are trying to figure out what actions you need to take to promote your maps. I’m sure you will succeed, the main thing is don’t stop! :hibiscus:
