Hi mates!
I met a problem when creating a SUPPER SUPPER BIG world (Landscape).
It’s about 38x38KM. Yeah, I know it’s somehow ridiculous, but they just gave me this case, trying to reach the limit of the size. I’ve been searching and learning information about that, but barely nothing useful was found.
Here’s where I have processed:
-
I successfully imported a 8K .r16 height map into a NON Openworld level template, and obviously the GPU was about to cry, . Then the engine says running out of GPU memory after I drag a MI to the landscape.
-
I tried to use the Tool>convert to openworld, but the process bar didn’t move a little.
-
I opened a Openworld level template, trying to import the heightmap in it, but it warns " wrong format of file name" and suggested a right one. Now I’m confused, should I split the heightmap into pieces in other tools or I fix the file name and manipulate the partitions in engine?
-
Yet, I’m still not sure about will it work, or engine can’t support such a enormous Landscape at all?
