HLOD for map and Landscape not working anymore in 5.3

Hello all,

I recently switched from UE5.2 to 5.3 with the hope for better performance.
While in 5.2 I was able to build my map, a 16km*16km map, and my Landscape HLOD… Iwhen playing I could see the entirety of the Landscape and that was cool.
But since I changed to 5.3, everytime I try to build the HLOD, it end-up failing.
I had various results in the log, an external actor being corrupted or mipmap issues but it seems to be a lack of memory… VRAM then virtual memory.
I tried giving a specific HLOD layer to the landscape (simplified mesh) with “basic” settings but it fails too.
What am I missing ? Is it on my side that I am lacking a better understanding of HLODs or setup for more layers ? Is there a way to build HLODs layer by layer instead of all HLODs at the same time ? As something changed in the way it works on 5.3 or is it an issue with 5.3?

Thanks for your help!

Found a way to make it work!

In the settings of the Landscape HLOD Layer, I changed the default values to “cut it” in bigger cells… it works just fine now.
I used the CMD line to cook them as it’s much better to follow what is goin on.

There is still much to learn about the HLODs…
