Hiring UE4 Gameplay Programmer At Blue Isle Studios in Toronto

Blue Isle Studios is seeking a talented and enthusiastic gameplay programmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building exciting multiplayer games and has significant experience working with Unreal Engine 4. We are looking for someone that is comfortable working closely with designers to create compelling gameplay experiences, implement new content and help designers improve on their world building workflows. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate and excited to create amazing video game experiences.

This is a full-time position working from our office located in downtown Toronto.** We are not looking for remote contract work at this time.**

Responsibilities:

  • Develop multiplayer gameplay systems for the design team
  • Ensure gameplay systems are performant by regularly taking stats dumps
  • Work with a UI designer on gameplay specific UI
  • Work with the vfx/sfx team on gameplay specific sound and visual implementations

Requirements:

  • Strong C++ and blueprinting skills in Unreal Engine 4
  • Ability to take light designs and communicate in order to flesh out a full implementation
  • Strong data structures, logic and algorithm skills
  • Strong understanding of vector math
  • Experience with multithreading and networking
  • Experience working with client/server architecture
  • Experience with performance analysis and code optimization
  • High level of comfort extending and improving upon an existing code base
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Minimum of 5 years coding experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience programming in the video game industry

Blue Isle Studios is looking for an exceptionally skilled senior environment artist to join our team. Your focus will be to create large scale, immersive environments and atmospheres for players while remaining conscious of polygon limits, draw calls and fill rate. Your skills and responsibilities will include modelling, texturing, lighting, optimization and level design while reporting to the art lead. You must have the creative sense to sometimes work with little or no concept art, prototype and gather reference material for your designs.

This is a full-time employment position working from our office located in downtown Toronto, Canada. Remote workers will not be considered at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the creative lead to deliver art assets by assigned due dates
  • Design and implement artwork directly within Unreal Engine 4
  • Use Unreal Engine 4 terrain tools to assemble large scale terrains
  • Optimize, combine and atlas textures and meshes to ensure good performance

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years experience creating fully realized 3D environments
  • Strong foundation in ZBrush/Mudbox, Quixel/Substance Painter and Photoshop
  • A thorough understanding of 3D Studio Max and/or Maya
  • Experience using the Unreal Engine 4 material editor and authoring materials
  • Experience creating Physically Based textures and materials
  • Experience creating assets in Unreal Engine 4 as well as importing and managing assets
  • Able to design and light interior/exterior spaces within Unreal Engine

  • Sculpt, model and texture highly detailed characters for use in Unreal Engine 4 based off of concept art and reference imagery
  • Ensure characters have proper topology for animation
  • Work with the creative lead to deliver art assets by assigned due dates
