I run my own Ark server for a small group of people, but I’ve encountered a problem. Since we run on a small map, there is a good chance that if I log in as admin for any reason, everybody within a pretty large radius can see my location - there is an ini setting that allows me to hide the ‘admin icon’, but my name is displayed to anyone within range. This causes problems, as when I log in, it reveals my current location, and if I teleport to a player who needs assistance, it will then reveal their location. This is undesireable as much of the time players like to try and keep their stuff hidden from one another.
I’d like to make a mod that fixes this issue - and am new to the Ark dev kit (but not new to the engine!), so I’d appreciate some pointers on where to look for things to modify.
I honestly don’t understand the issue you’re having since I’ve never seem or heard of ark showing the admin location. I’m an admin on my server and can’t see other admin and no one can see me any differently than any other player there.
Thanks for the input - I’ve not strictly seen it myself, but I’ve been informed it’s the case by players on the server that admin players do seem to be visible over greater distances than regular players, at least with the server we’ve been running. It might not be so obvious on standard sized maps, but our custom island is pretty small (intended for up to ~16 players).
