Hide Parts of Landscape As I Work

Hello everyone,

As the tittle suggests, I’m currently working on a pretty large landscape and would like to work on it by sections. I don’t use world composition and can’t use it because it doesn’t support some of the systems I have in place for this particular project.

So can this be done? Can I hide the parts of the landscape I’m not currently using to save on memory and unhide them again as I see fit?

no i don’t beleve there is for parts of a single landscape there is just the visability brush but thats not what you want as the land is still there ie verts it just hides the material i take it you want performance while you work you could split it in gimp or photo shop making smaller tiles but you run the risk of the edges being warped on re import if not using world comp its going to be hard to match them back up i created in world comp a massive island 256 1km tiles re imported the height maps to turn layers on mess with the layers export back out back into world comp to join the edges back up and genarate lods and a lod0 for static mesh landscapes save them… import height map back into layers without now touching any edges apply any water etc real backward pain in the bum bum use tour lod0 neighboring level to correct any edge errors heres a trick use a spline on the edge as you can recreate the coords on the next level should then be matching edges

Thanks for your answer man, if there isn’t such a thing, I’ll have to end up making it world comp as I work and after I’m done I’ll have to disable world comp again. Thanks for your suggestions!
