Hidden Alley – Cinematic Short Film (Unreal Engine 5.6)

Hidden Alley – Cinematic Short Film in Unreal Engine 5.6

Just wrapped up Hidden Alley, a real-time short film developed as part of my UEcinema course, where I teach Unreal filmmaking as an authorized Unreal Engine instructor.

The film includes 42 shots in total:
:movie_camera: The first 10 shots was made by a student using UE5.5
:gear: The remaining 32 shots were completed by me in UE5.6 over just 12 days.

We used the latest MetaHuman, AI-driven mocap, and facial animation via audio. I was responsible for directing, sound editing, and color grading. The production was made possible with a compact but powerful setup:

Intel i5 10400F
RTX 3060 12GB
32GB RAM

Special thanks to the K02 class team:
Duong Nguyen, Minh Chau Tran, Pham Quang Minh, Truong Tan Phat – all of whom contributed across lighting, cinematic layout, and mocap cleanup.
Some Screen shots of the Movie

I’ll be posting a full breakdown article soon – follow for updates.

Hi again @VUEC,

Hope you’ve been well

The darker edge of the story made this so engaging right from the beginning. But it was the quality and emotional elements that really impressed. Especially the “play back” animation and storytelling dialogue. Brilliantly done!

Hope we see more of your work around here soon
