Hi. Working on Archicad 23 and now with the Datasmith add on. I can't seem to continue the link from previous project between cad and TM other than a completely new export? ? And when I do, the model is now located miles away from TM render elements
From what I understand, Archicad Datasmith links need to 'start from scratch', from Archicads zero point in model space, as this is where the navigator / gizmo is located? Thinking I reload the legacy Direct Link add on? Note Datasmith enables me to save out objects (skp files etc) into the main model, Direct Link just fails each time, so would be great if I can keep using Datasmith. Cheers for any help! (ok just worked out how to reset the transform gizmo....)
Thank you for posting in the community and sorry about the delayed response. The previous Direct-Link (Legacy) plugin has the orientation incorrect and in the new plugin it was fixed so the elements are rotated 90 degrees. It is best to start from scratch when switching plugins, however if you need to keep working in a scene here are some steps you can take.
Option 1:
Open your existing Twinmotion scene and save all the materials that were adjusted or applied in Twinmotion to your user library.
Then open a new Twinmotion file and merge the content from the old file.
Delete the elements that were brought in with the old plugin and import and rotate the remaining elements 90 degrees.
Import the new content with the Direct-Link or udatasmith.
Apply the textures to the necessary materials that reverted back.
Recreate your media images.
Option 2:
Create a backup of your original Twinmotion file.
Open your existing Twinmotion scene and save all the materials that were adjusted or applied in Twinmotion to your user library.
Then open your original Archicad file and open a 3D view and hide everything - Then Sync with the legacy plugin so that the Twinmotion file becomes empty except for the newly placed assets.
Import the new content with the Direct-Link or udatasmith and rotate it 90 degrees.
Apply the textures to the necessary materials that reverted back.
Hope this helps, and if it is too complicated it might not be worth switching but finishing the project with the Legacy plugin, unless you are running into issues that the new plugin would help address.
