Hi, Trying to get the screen shot with bigger resolution. But I am not getting the Images with 300 DPI. Can anyone help me with this ?

I can able to get the bigger size but all are 72 DPI. Not sure those are printable. SInce for Print quality everywhere required 300 DPI. I tried few options, but not getting 300 DPI.
Please help.

Thanks

Hello MRohan,

I have been looking into this issue for you and this is what I have found out.

There is a function to take High Resolution screenshots inside of UE4. However, even with this, the screenshot is only taken at 72 DPI.

I was able to take that screenshot out of UE4 and then open it in Photoshop. I then made the image 300 DPI when editing the image resolution. This, however, makes the image very large and may not be a suitable solution for you.

At this time UE4 does not support DPI above 72. I can enter a feature request for you.

Please let me know if this is something you would like to do.

Thank you,

Hi ,

Thanks for the reply.
That will be really good if we can have an option to choose DPI, as those images can be printable as well. And I guess lot of UE users will be happy to have this feature , as i was was going through lot of questions regarding same on answer Hub.

Thanks again for your reply…

Hello MRohan,

Not a problem.

I have entered a feature request for the ability to choose your DPI whenever taking screenshots. Our development team will review this request and consider making this a function.

The ticket number is UE - 20461

Thanks,

The DPI resolution of an image is a single number embedded in the header of the image. Some images don’t even have that number and just store Width * Height Pixels. If Photoshop load such a file it just uses a default for it (e.g. 72 DPI).
The DPI is only useful when you want to print or project it onto a specific size. It allows to compute the size from the pixel width and height.
If you open an image in Photoshop you can change the image size and don’t check “resample” and you can change the DPI value without altering any other parts of the image. A normal screenshot at 300DPI will be quite small in print so using HighResScreenShot might be a good idea.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for your reply, But I have tried these options. Unchecking re-samples restricts the pixel size but Image size still changes. Even if you restrict the image size forcefully , then image becomes blurry and less sharp, which might affect for print quality.

I will try again these options, and will check if there is any work around.

thanks

I would very much like a 300 DPI function as well. UE4 is becoming good for renderings in video and architecture, but the 72dpi is a serious loos of quality.
