We have been developing audio and music software for game players and virtual worlds for the last few years and just recently our Project Team started doing work in Fortnite. We come from a deep audio and gaming background including work in UE 5 and metasounds. We are excited to see what can develop on the Fortnite Creative platform for Music Game Development. I had reached out the Harmonix team and they suggested that I start posting in the Forum so more people can join the conversation … so here we are
Our first couple of projects are a runner game we developed for a Game Jam in UE5 called Chronobeats and a Rave Club like we have developed in our UE 4.27 game in Steam and what we have done for live events in Second Life, Sansar and VRChat which includes DJ Lighting/VFX and Live Looping. We also come from a Sound Design background so we are bringing in our sound libraries / sample packs we had built to run on Patchwork devices. Once we get them working in the games I expect we will make them available to other Creators that might have some use for them.
The short list of items/requests we have asked about so far include:
- Single Column option item in the Sequencer to support live looping type performances
- Be able to send in note information into I-play via an event from our own devices this would support our ability to have playable music instruments & jammers in the game like we do in UE 5.4
We have a whole list of things but we want to only suggest them after we have taken the time to exhaust using what might already be available. So in the future, at the end of each of our 2 week dev sprints, we plan on adding ideas and discussions to this forum based on what we found out during our development.
We look forward to finding other Creators interested in making Fortnite games where music is the main focus of their builds. Music is Truth!
