Hi, I'm Your New Community Manager!

Welcome, !

[QUOTE=JeDeergab;106835]
Post tutorials on the community then we will starting liking you and even update Unreal Engine’s YouTube channel with new tutorials for everything and we want it all in Blueprints and C++ and we want in two forms separate for each and mix. That way people who legitimately bought UE4 knows where to go and find the tutorial he/she is interested on working. Come on! Not everyone here are proficient and start sticking a thread that listed tutorials and even include user generated ones as well it just lighten up the community.

It could be like:

  • How to make particles do damage in Bluprints
  • How to make particles do damage in C++

Its not just UE4 we want tutorials for Blender, 3ds , Maya, other 3D modelling software even Photoshop and GIMP we want separate for our well funded developers and not so funded developers like me we want to use other option, by that we want 100% free and royalty free (if possible) if we do decide to implement them in our games. These are the things you should be looking into in community. Also start getting active at the following Reddit sub-reddits to get any ideas /r/gamedev, /r/gamedevclassifieds, /r/unrealengine, /r/UDK, /r/greenlightquality/, and /r/indiegaming (You won’t believe how many talented people are on Reddit).

TL;DR - We want tutorials for well funded developers and not so funded developers I will start contributing once I understand how to use Blueprint and release my own tutorials here in respect to the community. Also please do update community lively by making awesome gameplay videos we want to be left awestruck that way it influence us to make that game we dreamed of making. Please do respect the different sides of the community and don’t be afraid to take suggestions from other people.

Thanks for the suggestions, JeDeergab. We are working hard on getting as much tutorial and documentation content out to the masses as quick as we can! You can also find a set of community tutorialshere. Make sure to check the Twitch livestream channel on Thursdays, too, (twitch.tv/unrealengine, as we like to show off awesome things that the community is cooking up. Expect more rad things in the future.

Well hello there!

Nice to see an official community manager designated on Epic’s end! I think you’ll enjoy it here, most of us are pretty laid back, and try to help each other best we can. What all does your new gig entail? Is it like being a mod, or more of an push for more interaction with the community? Either way I love how EPIC’s team have had such a big role in the community (I mean what other engine are you going to see a guy like Sweeney answering questions on a ???), you guys deserve a lot of credit for the way you have approached new engine. The engine alone would be enough, however creating the community you have and allowing it to help shape what makes up the Unreal Engine is really what makes engine stand out from the others. (and I say as a former CE user, since switching back in april it has been incredible how big of a difference there is).

So welcome to the forums! Thanks for the intro!

*ps… So does make you some kind of an Uber mod???, 's already taken the “Super Mod” title… But I think the “The Mod God” title is all yours if you want it!! haha

Thanks for the kind words, . We understand the value of having a strong community and continually strive to provide the best engine we can :). has been a huge help on AnswerHub and on the forums - Super Mod indeed! I’ll just be referred to as “The Dude”, if we are going to go there with formalities

So you’re the new target (I mean community manager obviously) :), good to have you aboard. It’s interesting you mention Unity, we have a team of 15 and made the jump from Unity not so long ago after a long use period. Were just trying to find out bearings with UE4, what works / what doesn’t, so if the community needs things pushing seems you’re the man.

Epic have been awesome so far anyway, UE4 is still a bit rough around the edges but on the whole an amazing product.

Is the bullseye on my back that obvious? ;D Glad to be here. We are working hard to make the best possible experience for developers and are glad to have you here.

nice to see you best you get on the next live stream

rad

Welcome, you should join us on IRC

, if you could block any posts with the subject line ending in 2056, that would be great. The spammer here is nothing if not consistent.

EDIT: Although we now have a new spammer for c@11-61rl5 who isn’t as easy to get rid of.

Epic games is working on the spam problem  Meanwhile we can just delete those threads + ban the people

Great to see more helpful people on the !

Welcome .

Based on pure speculation - there seems to be additional capabilities that become active only after you’ve posted some threshold number of times?

I’ve noticed that my first few posts as a “junior member” contained links or images and they were never shown. Just a notification that they needed to be viewed by a moderator. 24+ hours later they still aren’t up and no sort of notification or anything.

It would be nice if the leveling up or limits, etc. were described in the FAQ, a sticky or somewhere similar.

Just my $0.02 as I muddle through learning pretty amazing community.

Hi Noolarch,

Sorry about all that. We just implemented a new plugin to try to fight the spam, but we are still working out all the kinks. Thanks for the heads up. I approved your post that was in the Moderation queue, and we’ll go back and revisit the plugin’s settings.

Welcome .

Now we have more “” to talk to “” so dont miss "Epic ".
