Hi, i am new to Unreal Engine. I have an issue with my materials. When i apply it to an object, it works as i want it to on some sides, but the others it creates strange vertical lines. I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this?

It’s UV stretching. I’m assuming you’ve just scaled a cube?

You can fix the UVs in the engine modelling tools, but you need to copy cube first ( in the asset browser ).

Im not too sure if that is the issue. It only affects the areas that arent affected by light.

Try putting the default engine grid material on it  ( world grid it’s called, or something similar ).

Hey there @Itsteejayig! Welcome to the community! How did you create the bridge model? This looks like it could be something up with the UVs. That’s likely where I’d look first, though the light changing the material stretch isn’t a common side-effect.

The WorldGrid Material material Clockwork is referencing is located as listed below:

Though I also use UVEditor Background for UV debugging since it’s numbered:

Yes, i do think it was an issue with the UVs like what @ClockworkOcean originally said. After playing around with it a little bit i have solved the issue. Im very grateful with all the suggestions provided and very glad to be part of such a helpful community
