Here's my solo developed game Koala Kids Golf!

Hello, my name is Wildemar and I’m a solo-gamedev (for about 10 years now).
I recently released my first Unreal 4 game on Steam and would like to share it with you!

Game Info:
Koala Kids Golf is inspired by the GameCube game Ribbit King (2003), I felt it needed a modern re-design!
You play as a perfectly aero-dynamic Koala :koala: and collect as much Treasure as you can before your opponents! :gem:
You control the Koala on both ground and air while trying to string together combos, for more points and prolong your turn.

All Maps have some unique twist to the gameplay, like a giant Frog :frog: that picks up and spits out the player that gets too close.

The game supports 1-4 Players Locally or Online. There are a bunch of Single Player Challenges as well!

I have a playable Demo if you want to try it out! ^^

Development:

I come from Unity, and working with Unreal was quite different in many ways. I feel it took longer to “get it” than I had anticipated. In this project I also tried to learn Blender which was a challenge of its own…

The game is coded in Blueprint (but it’s a mixed C++ project due to Steam SDK implementation), I have personally not coded anything in C++.

The HARDEST part was definitely all Network coding aspects, to get everything to work as smoothly as possibly over network, but I’m glad I got it to work in the end!!

The BEST part is the Soundtrack in my opinion, it’s cozy and electronic and something I hope to listen to years from now  (also I honestly have fun when I play the game).

Thanks for reading! :hugs: :koala:

Hi there @Doomgriever,

Hope you’re well and having a great week so far!

This is easily the most adorable golfing sim I’ve ever seen. Especially with how the art style fits the game perfectly. Super colorful and fun  As for the soundtrack, I have to agree with you - it’s both cozy and cheery. Great work with the subtleties of the games development and congrats on releasing it!

Do you happen to have a favorite “twist” for a map?

Thank you for your kind words!
My favorite “twist” is probably the “gem twister” (a tornado with treasure in it!) :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
