The P-8 Poseidon [1] is a new generation of maritime patrol aircraft designed and produced by Boeing to replace the old P-3C patrol aircraft.
The main purpose of the aircraft is maritime patrol, reconnaissance and anti-submarine operations, there are five ammunition outside the six weapon hardpoints.
Media reports on June 2, 2021 that the US Navy's P-8A anti-submarine aircraft from Patrol Aircraft Squadron 4 (VP-4) launched two AGM-84D Harpoon anti-ship missiles to strike a target ship off the coast of Norway.
