The Constellation-class frigate [5] [7] is a new generation of multi-purpose missile frigates for the United States Navy. It is based on the design of the European Multi-Mission Frigate (FREMM) used by the French and Italian navies. The Constellations are scheduled to enter service in 2026, with one under construction and six on order. The Navy hopes to build a total of 20 Constellation-class frigates.
