Help with UDK FBX and SDK

I am trying to add a material to a static mesh but I keep getting this error message when I import and I am wondering if that is what the problem is. Also I have downloaded the correct FBX exporter. I am using the 2015 build of UDK. Any ideas for a noob?

In your 3D program (I’m guessing Maya or 3ds Max) when you export to FBX it has some export options, including the version of FBX to export, I would set it to version 2013

Yeah it’s Maya 2015… Thanks for the reply. Do you think my Professor will be able to open the package correctly even though he’s running the 2015 ver of the UDK?

I’m not sure what package you’re talking about, but you should be able to import if the FBX file is version 2013.

By the way, are you using UDK or UE4? These forums are for UE4
