Help with texturing, sketchfab output looks better than anything I can unwrap.

Hi,

Maybe I am missing something but I had originally simplified my original 80m poly mesh to 6m and textured. RC sent that output to sketchfab and it recreated that mesh + texture but the texture map looks amazing for 1 texture count compared to the original 20. And worst off I cant seem to unwrap (To get a higher texture quality) and make it any better, they all turn out worse.

Sweet render looks the the same for:

600k Poly mesh @ 1 texture and 27% texture quality

600k Poly mesh @ 20 textures and 80% texture quality…

Maybe the software is confused and using the wrong mesh for the sweet render but ultimately I just want to get the model to best represent the image below. Is that even possible?

The idea here is to use the least amount of “Other” 3d modelling software as possible for the work.

Thanks,

Hello Mike,

Textures are scaled to fit a GPU, therefore the visual display may be of a lower quality than in your model. RC scales them to max one 16K texture (or 4 8K textures, 16 4K textures, etc.). Is the textury blurry also when you export it?

I have not tried to export it yet. Is there any way to check in the program? i.e. rendering a screenshot?

Thx

The viewer in RC does *not* show the full resolution of the mesh model texture. This is for the reason that Zuzuna mentioned. The performance would suffer too much.

In order to view the full resolution you can either export the file as FBX/OBJ *without* tiling the texture files and then importing them in the free software Meshlab.
Another way is to simply use the “Render” button in the RC export section in the reconstruction tab. For the best result, render the image at 16k.
